The Forbidden Drawer!

This is a forgotten story that happened a few years ago. My sister is always looking forward to the crazy that happens at my house. So if I text her with are you ready…. She knows there is a story coming.
I know I am not the only mama who may have had this happen to. This is not a typical Amos story it is a Naomi story.

Mom! Naomi drank some sanitizer! says Sierra. I Go running to find the sanitizer bottle in the bedroom…

Naomi is your mouth tingling and cold? Toddler nods.

We all have a funny but embarrassing story of a younger child getting into a drawer or box that they shouldn’t investigate into. Maybe you can see where this is going but after lots of research into the ingredient in the water based cooling LUBE. Yes Lube that my daughter ingested finding no harmful ingredients it was a very strong Oragel.

Are We Raising DRAGONS?

Tik-Tok has taken reading books by storm. We now follow all the people and get into reading the trending “booktok”. Guilty over here to some degree. It is such an easy way to see reviews.

One evening tucking the kids into bed I came to the realization they are dragons! No not the fire breathing ones. Laughing to myself I turn to my husband….. WE HAVE BOOK DRAGONS! 3 out of 4 of the kids have a stack of books with them beside or in their bed as they read into the night, with the youngest falling asleep with the book on their face sometimes. You have to get the information in somehow.  The moose is an audio book reader, just like his daddy. I have gotten into challenges with my son over completing books of his before him. I will say that many of the books he reads I really do enjoy!  (excluding the Minecraft ones). Going into summer you will be seeing books all over my house and by the pool. Mine will be a kobo by the pool. I would love to support my child’s love for reading with a kobo but I don’t know the amount of young/preteen books that are available.

What do you think you can use as confetti?

The daily battle to get up early and work out, shower, eat breakfast, and maybe read in peace before all the kids get up and out of bed begins. I used to be a morning person and I was great at getting showered every day (with two kids). I’m not sure if it was because of a global pandemic or the amount of kids but showering is a challenge these days. Yes I’ll raise my hand for the it’s day 3 and my dark hair is showing grease. So dry shampoo is forever on my countertop. I’m also the mom that it’s summer so the ball cap is on. Doesn’t come off. You know you have to get your hair in the hat and then do the bun after so it’s the right height. (going to invest in a ponytail hat one day). If it’s winter the toque is always ready!

So this day I didn’t get up early. My normal routine for this is we get through the morning. You know the school drops off the back home for snacks and a small activity then lunch all in a span of 2 hours. 2 hours, just realized I feed 2 humans 2 meals (snack counts as a meal for a toddler I’d say) and try to do an activity with them it’s an accomplishment.

Lunchtime is over and the youngest is down for nap time. The Moose is not down for a nap as he just causes too much commotion for the littlest one to sleep. TV is to the rescue today as I just needed to shower. For his mothers peace of mind, I put him in my room to watch his favourite show because it takes longer to get to the front door from here. Perfect shower time is one I have 15-30 min to maximize the use of getting a shower and ready for the day before the kid loses interest.

The shower was wonderful at this point I’m guessing because what happens next takes over my memory. I’m walking into my room after the shower to find my son. “Surprise MOM!” Definitely surprised as he throws the most creative confetti up into the air. The confetti was an entire box of Q-tips. I will say easier to clean up. Still everywhere and was finding it that night as we climbed into bed. It was in my bed. In my pillow case and on the floor. Down the top of the bed between the headboard to in between the sheets. I told him that it was definitely a surprise and that next time maybe not do to.
